Why Are The French So Bad At English? (by Jeffrey Hill)

Full story: http://jeffreyhill.typepad.com/english/

J. Hill's opinion:
"It's always seemed to me that (generalisation alert) French students are reluctant to take responsibility for their own learning. They're far too dependent on the teacher, and unless they receive a mark for work, it tends not to get done. The flip side is that they're quick to blame the teacher when they fail to make progress. In an age where there have never been so many language-learning resources (podcasts, blogs, video, DVDs, online press, etc., etc.), the teacher should be just another resource not the focal point for learning."

Ms Schill's opinion: I agree with Jeffrey Hill. It is vital to take responsibility for one's own learning, otherwise you will not make any progress.

Lösung Women in India

Although women played an important role in the struggle for independence, and Gandhi and Nehru laid the foundation for complete equality of the sexes in the Indian Constitution, the traditionally subordinate role of women is still the norm for the mass of the people in India, especially for the 75% who live in rural areas. Women now have the vote, more possibilities in education and employment in the cities, but the literacy rate for women only rose from 29.7% (1981) to 39.4% (1990).
